Cindy Huskey‘s insight:

I stumbled upon this infographic serendipitously and felt compelled to share.  It seems that foreign language classes in high school are viewed by students as one more requirement towards graduation – nothing more, nothing less.  I suppose I’m a different breed of human, but I wanted to learn to speak French more than saying hello and reciting the ABC’s. So, I bought a conversational French book and practiced – get this – outside of class. By the time I was in college, I could speak almost fluently and even carry on a conversation without sounding ridiculous. Who knew all the mental benefits of learning a new language?
